Captain Katanna's - Melbourne - March 2012

Captain Katanna's4263 N US1
Melbourne, Fla
Closed Mondays

I had a nice lunch at Captain Katanna's a few weeks ago.  This is the third time I've eaten here and I gotta say - I am a fan of it.  It always surprises me how when I mention Captain Katanna's to locals around here a lot of people have never heard of it.  I actually prefer their food and service there over some of the bigger similar restaurants on US1.  For me, its more of a local and a homey / friendly experience.  It also has a beautiful view of the river.  You can sit inside or outside.

On my first visit here, I asked the server what she recommended / what people usually really like... this is something I usually do when visiting a restaurant that is new to me.  I find servers always know whats good where they work at.  My server recommended the River Ruben.  I tried it and I have been a fan ever since.  The River Ruben is fried cod on grilled rye with swiss cheese and cole slaw

One of my dining companions ordered a burger and that looked and tasted great also.  Another one ordered a Caesar salad and it was "o.k." in their opinion.  We all had clam chowder and while it could have been served just a bit hotter for our tastes it was totally delicious.
